General Clark is right, McCain is not qualified

Posted in Eric with tags , on June 30, 2008 by Eric

I second General Clark’s statement,

“I don’t think getting in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to become president.”

Sitting in the pilot’s seat does not make you a good leader, look at George W. Bush. Wait, I forgot, McCain is running for the third Bush term..so, I guess it makes sense for him to keep talking about his role as a pilot, since Bush was a pilot as well. I respect people that serve in the military, but let’s be real. Being in the military does not make you automatically qualified to be the next commander in chief.

This is another example of McCain’s shamelessness. Using his service to try and earn political capital. If I was a veteran, I would be ashamed and pissed at McCain for abusing his military service to try and earn the sympathy of the people. He has no executive experience and it’s a legitamite point to bring up.

Oh, BTW, after denoucing the swiftboaters during Kerry’s campaign, McCain has now brought on board a member of that disgusting swiftboater group. This is the John McCain..Wake up people…He will sell you out in a blink of an eye.

McCain is bad

Posted in Eric with tags on June 26, 2008 by Eric

To all the pro-choice women out there that are slow in moving to Barack Obama. This will make your decision easier.

From the McCain website, which I will not link to.

John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench.

How about this scary thought for everyone

On Jan. 20, 2009, six of the nine Supreme Court justices will be over 70. Most of them could be replaced by the next president, particularly if he or she is re-elected. Given the prospect of accelerating gains in modern medical technology, some of the new justices may serve for half a century. Even if a more perfect candidate were somehow elected in 2012, he would not be able to undo the damage, especially to the Supreme Court.

The next president may be able to appoint up to six justices in the White House. Are you kidding me?!?! This is why the upcoming election is the most important in my lifetime. Whoever sits in that seat will be able to shape the future of America for the next half century. We can not take this lightly. If we want this country to go down the progressive path, we must elect Barack Obama and back him up with a majority in the house and senate.

This quote from his website makes me puke, especially if you knew of his background with his first wife.

a beloved husband and father

Let’s see..he married a beauty queen, then left for the war. After coming home, he found that his wife is no longer the beauty queen that he had married. She had a terrible auto accident that left her disfigured. So, John McCain started having extramarital affairs and began chasing the daughter of a beer tycoon, Cindy, across the country. He eventually divorced his first wife to marry the millionaire Cindy McCain. Yes..a gold digger, who shameless dumped his first wife. That’s family value for you all

Nader!?!

Posted in Eric with tags on June 25, 2008 by Eric

There is a reason why Ralph Nader is a joke and why people blame him for Al Gore’s loss. This is also why I actually think he is a Republican operative acting as a progressive, trying to get Republican president elected. How else can you explain his thinking and his actions. Instead of going after the threat to progressive idealologies, namely Republicans, he always goes after the Democrat in his attacks. He talks about poverty, yet he gives the big business loving Republicans a pass. If he somehow thinks that he is helping America, all he needs to do is look at the Bush administration and the atrocities that George has committed and realize that he is wrong. Yet, I don’t think he understands. Nader is all about Nader and no one else. This trend of attacking Democrats continues, in an interview with Rocky Mountain News, he accused Obama of “Talking white.”

Asked to clarify whether he thought Obama does try to “talk white,” Nader said: “Of course.

Please Ralph, tell me how I can “talk white” too.

Gimmick you can believe in

Posted in Eric with tags on June 24, 2008 by Eric

John McCain should change his lame slogan from “A leader we can believe in” to “Gimmick we can believe in.”

First he still supports the idiotic gas tax vacation. I don’t need to repeat why that is such a stupid idea and why almost every economic expert opposes it. Of course, being John McCain, he won’t back down from stupid gimmicky ideas, in fact, that’s how he intends to save America! Now he has another one and this one will rescue us from the energy crisis. No, it’s not about oil, in fact he wants to drill for more oil and destroy our beaches. He is offering 300 million dollars to the next person that can come up with a new car battery. LOL..now this is not just funny but stupid also. If I had a design for the next generation car battery, I wouldn’t give a damn about his reward. I can simply offer my services to the highest bidder and make a lot more money just off the patent. In addition, is this how McCain plans to solve problems that we face once he is in office, by offering bounties on everything? He offered a bounty on Bin Laden’s head earlier and now wants to solve our energy crisis by offering another bounty. What’s next? Offer a reward for the best foreign policy plan? offer a reward to the person that can find oil off the shores? Offer a reward for the best plan to extract us from Iraq? Offer a reward for the first person to be able to teach him about the internet? Geez, this is the kind of gimmick that we can all believe in. John McCain doesn’t have a clue as to the problems we are facing today and he doesn’t know how to deal with them properly. He is stuck in the past and can’t climb his way out to the present.

Not just the fact that this is so stupid, this also shows the hypocrisy of John McCain. He wants to promote fuel efficiency, but hey, let’s drill for more oil at the same time so we can buy gas cheaper and drive our big SUVs. He wants to end our addiction to oil, but let’s find more oil first to feed our addiction. He claims to be an environmentalist, but want to destroy our beaches and drill off the shores of our nation.

How many times do I have to say it. John McCain is an idiot and I can’t believe that he is running to be the next president of the United States of America. That in itself is a testament to the greatest of this nation.

It’s all about the Terrorists for McCain

Posted in Eric with tags on June 23, 2008 by Eric

Sad and disturbing trend from the McCain campaign.

First, Charlie Black, McCain’s chief strategist would welcome another terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

The assassination of Benazir Bhutto in December was an “unfortunate event,” says Black. “But his knowledge and ability to talk about it reemphasized that this is the guy who’s ready to be Commander-in-Chief. And it helped us.” As would, Black concedes with startling candor after we raise the issue, another terrorist attack on U.S. soil. “Certainly it would be a big advantage to him,” says Black.

That is just stupid and shows the McCain campaign mentality, hope for something big to happen to the American people so they can use it to their advantage. Pathetic.. McCain and his people make me sick..

then I discovered that John McCain really doesn’t understand our economic problems. Everything is about terrorists to that man. This is an excerpt from Fortune magazine,

What do you see as the gravest long-term threat to the U.S. economy?

Obama: If we don’t get a handle on our energy policy, it is possible that the kinds of trends we’ve seen over the last year will just continue. Demand is clearly outstripping supply. It’s not a problem we can drill our way out of. It can be a drag on our economy for a very long time unless we take steps to innovate and invest in the research and development that’s required to find alternative fuels. I think it’s very important for the federal government to have a role in that process.

McCain: Well, I would think that the absolute gravest threat is the struggle that we’re in against Islamic extremism, which can affect, if they prevail, our very existence. Another successful attack on the United States of America could have devastating consequences.

This is the idiot that is running to be the next president?

Obama opts out of Public Financing – small update

Posted in Eric with tags , , , on June 19, 2008 by Eric

Update - Again, don’t buy into the media hype or the Republican machine regarding Obama’s opting out of the system. Conventional Wisdom has the Republicans expecting to spend upwards of 150 million dollars on this race, that is 80+ from the public financing system and the rest from the RNC. If Obama opts into the system, he is limited to the 80+ and whatever the DNC can raise. Traditionally, the RNC has always out raised the DNC by millions of dollars. If Obama picked to go with public financing, he will be severely underfunded compared to McCain. The system is broken in that way. If both campaigns are only able to use the public financing system and the respective national committees have to stay on the sidelines, Obama would’ve opted in. However, that’s not how things work in politics.  Obama opting out is the Republican’s worst nightmare in this election, that’s why they are making so much noise about it.

Read this analysis of the Public Financing System and the Election Law Blog is following this issue as well

————

Today, Barack Obama opts out of the public financing system for the general election, forgoing 80+ million dollars. Already, the McCain campaign is making a ruckus about this, talking about how he went back on his words, blah, blah, blah, blah… Let me set this straight for all of you..

I don’t give a damn if Barack went back on his words on this issue. This election is about winning and putting a Democrat back in office. This issue about Barack and the public financing system is complete bullshit from the right wing conservatives. John McCain may have accepted the system, but his attack machine will come from outside of his campaign. We will see Republican right wing attacks from 527 groups and from the Republican National Committee, which has vastly (by a margin of 10 to 1) outraised the Democratic National Committee so far. The whole purpose of the RNC right now is to help elect John McCain. So, even if John McCain accepts public financing, he will always have more money to back him. The Republicans have always had an edge in money from special interest groups and 527s that don’t have to follow any campaign regulations.

Barack refuses to accept campaign contributions from special interest groups and lobbyists. The DNC, under his control, has also enacted a policy that will reject donations from these people. This is truly a campaign that is funded by the people. Over 1.5 million Americans have contributed less than $100 to his campaign and Barack’s general election will continued to be funded by individuals like you and me. This will truly be the first time that we the people are the special interest groups. This is the first time that we the people own the candidate, not lobbyists.

John McCain and the Republican dogs are attacking Barack on this issue because they are afraid. They are afraid of the power of the people, our ability to fund a campaign that will vastly out raise the Republican machine. People have estimated that Barack will raise 200 to 300 million dollars for the general election. This is HUGE! Because in order to match John McCain and the RNC, Barack will need as much as he can raise. This also means that the Democrats will be able to fully carry out the 50 states strategy and challenge John McCain and the Republican party in every state, forcing John McCain to spend valuable resources to defend areas that Democrats have traditionally ignored. This is called overwhelming your enemy with a vastly superior force. Never enter a fight with less superior tactics and resources.

Remember, all the Republicans want to do is to distract us from our goal. We have to keep our eyes on the end prize, which is the White House. This is perhaps the most important election in my lifetime. The next president will be able to shape the future of this great nation for the next 20 to 30 years simply with the appointments to the US Supreme Court. We can not afford to lose and we will not lose.

Offshore drilling

Posted in Uncategorized on June 18, 2008 by Eric

The hike in gas prices have all the Republicans up in arms. Instead of stepping up with a viable long term energy plan, they just want to drill and drill and drill for more oil. Let’s briefly explore this. I must warn you all..this is a long one.

1. There’s this nasty rumor that China is drilling off the coast of Cuba and Republicans like our VP Dick Cheney are using that to push for off shore oil exploration. China is NOT drilling off the coast of Cuba. No one is drilling off the coast of Cuba.

From the AP:

In a speech to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Cheney said on Wednesday that waters in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, long off limits to oil companies, should be opened to drilling because China is already there pumping oil.

“Oil is being drilled right now 60 miles off the coast of Florida,” the vice president said. “We’re not doing it, the Chinese are, in cooperation with the Cuban government. Even the communists have figured out that a good answer to high prices is more supply.”

Cheney lied, not that it’s a surprise to many.

Cheney’s office said in a statement to The Associated Press that the vice president had erred.

“It is our understanding that, although Cuba has leased out exploration blocks 60 miles off the coast of southern Florida, which is closer than American firms are allowed to operate in that area, no Chinese firm is drilling there,” according to the statement.

If he knew that China was NOT drilling, why did he perpetuate that rumor? In addition, no one is drilling off the coast of Cuba

“But no one is currently drilling in any of those concessions,” said Pinon in a telephone interview.

Citing China is just another example of slimy Republican tactics, using race and our fears to push their own agenda.

Rep. Edward Markey, D-Mass., accused the Republicans of pushing oil development by “scaring up the ghosts of communism and xenophobia” and “perpetuating a myth that China is drilling off the coast of Florida.”

racism

again..I guess only Hillary faced prejudices when she ran her campaign, that’s why she lost. Barack Obama obviously didn’t have to deal with racism.
